Canoeing on the River Lyn

Canoeing on the East Lyn

Oare Water and Badgworthy Water combine to form the stunning East Lyn River which cuts through valleys of ancient woodland.  At Watersmeet, with its beautiful falls, the Hoaroak Water joins the East Lyn on its journey to the sea at Lynmouth.  The river forms part of an area specially protected by law for its wildlife.

This permissive access arrangement allows canoeing downstream from Watersmeet between the 1st October and 31st March when water levels are high enough. Canoeing is not permitted above Watersmeet or on the Hoaroak Water.
